FRUSTRATED!!!

I'm hoping one of you can help. I wanted to change my background today...it's no longer the 4th of July. I went to my layout page to find the HTML/java script  gadget that holds the code to my July 4th background I found at "cutest blog on the block"...that particular gadget is missing from my layout page even though the background is still applied to my page! I have searched through all of them...it's not there. I tried adding a new background by uploading a picture from my computer, but I'm guessing I have to take the other one down first before it can be seen.

Have any of you had anything like this happen to you? I'm worried that I may have to clear everything and start over. I really don't want to do that! Either that, or it may be the 4th of July forever!!

GRRRRRRRR!!!!!

  1. Julie, so you don't see any code at all in the html/java gadget box? That is really strange. Did you do "select all" and then delete whatever is in that box?

    1. Thanks for responding, Kris! The problem is that the box itself is not there.

  2. Hmmmm....I dont understand either. Design, Layout, then I scroll down, and click 'add a gadget', then also scroll down until I find the html/javascrip box, click it and usually the box comes up there. But if yours didnt, I dont have a clue. Sorry :(

  3. When I go to my layout my html box is always there so maybe you have to go to the right side (in layout) and hit the "add gadget" and then scroll to find and add back the html/javascrip box. I never have to go through all those steps because when I click on layout my background box (html/java) is right there. That is just so crazy!

  4. Can't be of any help I'm afraid... A lousy thing to happen, but I'm sure you'll work it out soon!

  5. I have never learned about it....I just use the canned ones that blogger provides. But Linda's way seems right.

  6. I've gotten some backgrounds from her too and on her page it gives these directions (which I'm sure you've already read)
    Log onto your blog.
Click on your 'Design' tab or 'Layout' tab.
    Click 'Add a Gadget'.
Click on the (+) sign next to 'HTML/JavaScript'.
Paste the entire code in that space.
Click 'Save' and you now have a new HOT blog!
The other problems you mentioned, I have no clue about the missing box. I vaguely remember one time seeing 2 different boxes to put code in but right now I can't remember where I saw it. If I can find it, I'll let you know.

  7. I went back and checked how I put my July 4th background.... I hit 'layout' (not the template) and scrolled to the bottom of the page where it listed "Independence Day" as my added gadget. Next to it is the edit tag. When I clicked that, a separate window opened where the box showed up that had my code.
I can now delete that code and add a new one.
    Did that help you any?
    That's how I do it.

    1. That's how I do it too, Carol but my gadget isn't there. When I put up my 4th of July background I added a gadget, then added a code in that gadget, but it's now missing so I can't delete the code because the whole gadget is gone from my layout.

I know this shouldn't upset me so much...but it does.

  8. Julie, you can add the gadget if it has gone missing. I can understand why you are upset. Maybe your template is changed? I don't play around with the template much anymore. Reboot your computer and maybe what is lost will reappear? Worth a try, maybe. Good luck!

  9. Stopping by to see if you got your background issue figured out. It doesn't look like it. When you try to add it back, what happens?
