The Third Day

The third day after Christmas and The Little Turquoise House is too quiet. I woke this morning and thought of my kids sleeping in various parts of the house and then realized they were no longer here.  I'm enjoying the quiet of the morning, but at the same time I'm not because I know I won't be hearing giggles, footsteps, and the constant opening and closing of the bathroom door. Reality has set in that my second cup of coffee will be consumed alone instead of around the table filled with my chattering children. SIGH. So it's time to pull myself up by my bootstraps...well, clogs in my case and get The Little Turquoise House back in order and myself as well. That's the plan for today lots of cleaning and laundry (every towel in the house is dirty). Since Daughter #2 didn't get "her" tree up until Christmas Eve, I will leave it up for a few more days for her to enjoy. She'll be up tomorrow and maybe once again before she returns to classes. I will however put away the other decorations as I work through the cleaning process. I don't know how much I'll get done today, but I do plan to roll up my sleeves and go at it with a vengeance.

After the cleaning is done this week, I hope to get me in order and make some real plans for getting my life back in order.

We are expecting a storm today - temperatures are supposed to drop drastically and the wind will pick up; we are expecting around 5" of blowing and drifting snow tonight and another possible 7" tomorrow. Unfortunately it will make getting to church difficult for some.

Well it's time to roll up these sleeves and dig in...

  1. Best laid plans... I intended to dig in, today, too, but am still sitting here with another cup of coffee. I guess tomorrow will be a busy day for me! Hope you are doing better than me!!

  2. Those few days after Christmas, when all the hustle and bustle of the holiday is over, it feels like a let-down, especially when the realization sets in that I don't know when I'll see the girls again. But life goes on, as it should.
I got most of my cleaning done Thursday. We're leaving the tree up until after the 1st, then I'll be getting my house back in order.
That winter storm coming your way doesn't sound very good. That's an awfully lot of snow!
Last night I stumbled onto a FB page of someone in your area -- he's an aerial photographer on a kite. Maybe you've seen him. He's posted several pictures he's taken. I enjoyed seeing the "sights and historical buildings". He said the area is known as the 3rd snowiest in the country.
Hope you have a great day.

    1. No Carol, I haven't seen the photographer you speak of. I would love to see what pictures he has!

  3. For me, it is over as if it never happened. Christmas Day was quiet with just Jim and me, him sleeping and me watching Hallmark movies. I am ready to get on with the new year. Hope you make progress in putting things away. Here, it already looks like nothing happened...lol
