Organ Recital at the Methodist Church | for Julie's contacts |
This is the organ I played last night in the final recital of our group's summer series. I have to admit I think with the exception of the one I learned on and now play weekly, this one is my favorite. It needs a good tuning right now, but other than that is in great condition and it's tracker action really helped me with my technique, even though it was painful to my carpal tunnel. It was built by Lankashire Marshall.
Last night went very well. I was surprised to see a couple of my friends turn out, one from church and one from the scrapbook store, then several ladies from Curves came. I was asked to play last since one of my pieces was a postlude. Both my pieces had big registrations (they were loud). I had several people come up to me after and tell me that one or the other of my pieces was their favorite of the evening. One of my friends told me that she could tell how much the audience loved my second piece. When I turned to acknowledge the applause, I caught sight of my mentor and he gave me a nod of approval which meant so much. I really needed this evening to be a success, I was nearly to the point of deciding to hang up my organ shoes! I wish my family would have come.
I had a picture taken of our group in front of the organ last night, but it did not turn out. I know that someone else also took one, and I'm hoping to get a copy soon.
